Hundreds of angry Egyptian fans invade pitch after disallowed goal

The violent madness that engulfs Egyptian and Algerian footballing relations exploded yet again, this time during Saturday's African Champions League match between Egpyt's Zamalek and Tunisia's Club Africain. With Zamalek leading 2-1 in the second leg but still down 5-4 on aggregate, they had a vital late goal disallowed after being ruled offside. The home fans decided to blame the match's Algerian referee and in stoppage time, hundreds of them stormed the pitch.

The match was abandoned as the officials fled the scene and the crazies on the pitch threw stones, lit flares and attacked both the players and each other.

From Reuters:

An Egyptian official in the ministry of health said nine people were injured in the incident, according to the state news agency MENA. He did not give their nationalities.

The incident revived the soccer tension between Egypt and Algeria of the recent past.

Algeria and Egypt had a diplomatic row late in 2009 over an ill-tempered qualification match for the World Cup.

Both sides traded accusations about crowd violence and intimidation and Cairo withdrew its ambassador from Algiers.

Africain will likely be awarded the victory once this mess is sorted out and Zamalek should be in for some kind of sanctions against them (key word there being "should"). Also, note how the video above ends with a creepy horror movie type cut out, making it just that much more disturbing. We don't know for sure, but there's a good chance that's when Godzilla attacked.

UPDATE: Egypt prime minister Essam Sharaf has apologized to Tunisia, the Africain players and the Algerian referee for what he described as "an act of thuggery" at Cairo Stadium. He has ordered the interior ministry to launch an investigation and called for the African Champions League to be suspended.

Fulham owner unveils Michael Jackson statue, gives fans ultimatum

"What are you going to do about it?"

When Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed first announced that he was going to have a statue built to honor his friend Michael Jackson and placed outside Craven Cottage, many people thought it was a joke while others wondered what business a statue of the dead singer had at a Premier League stadium.

Well, the former Harrods proprietor followed through on his promise. And on Sunday, before Fulham's match against Blackpool at the quaint little London ground that first opened in 1896, he unveiled the statue to excited fans of the singer and confused fans of Fulham. Al Fayed then danced with children and made it clear that if anyone doesn't like the statue, he doesn't really care.

From the AP:

"Why is it bizarre?" he said. "Football fans love it. If some stupid fans don't understand and appreciate such a gift, they can go to hell.

"I don't want them to be fans. If they don't understand and don't believe in things I believe in, they can go to Chelsea, they can go to anywhere else."

How sweet. Any Fulham fan upset that a statue was built to honor a man who attended one match with Al Fayed in 1999 instead of a legendary player or someone with an actual association to the sport might want to reconsider their anger, though. After the statue was unveiled, Fulham went on to beat Blackpool 3-0. So, clearly, the odd presence of the King of Pop isn't hurting their results.

Rihanna Falls Flat, Underwood Steals Show At 46th Annual ACM Awards

Rihanna Falls Flat, Underwood Steals Show At 46th Annual ACM Awards

Although the 46th annual Academy of Country Music Awards Sunday evening boasted an unusually rich list of interesting moments/personalities/collaborations, there were two performances that took up the majority of preshow chatter. One of these was non-country superstar Rihanna dueting with Sugarlandfrontwoman Jennifer Nettles. The other, Carrie Underwood with a tantalizingly unnamed "surprise" partner on stage.

Needless to say, only one performance lived up to the considerable hype.

I won't keep you in suspense. It wasn't Rihanna's. Unfortunately, the pop diva's duet with Nettles--a rendition of Rihanna's ballad "California King Bed"--felt leaden at worst, overwrought at best, leading mostly to a sense of wondering who on earth thought this would be a good idea.

Nettles has dueted out of her home genre before (most recently with artists as diverse as MC Lyte andKeri Hilson) to good effect. There's no apparent reason the broadly appealing Rihanna would not be able to match wits with a country artist or audience. The song wasn't even performed at the awards show proper; it was part of a new "fan jam" feature of which highlights were fed into the ACMs telecast.

And yet...thumbs down. Nothing much else to say except a shrug of the shoulders; likely the duet would have been better if they'd attempted Sugarland's bubbly "Stuck Like Glue"--a song that seems made for a pop artist to cavort with--instead.

MOBNAS TAWON VS PROTON!!!!!!

anda buat perbandingan...anda bangga dengan sape sekarang ni????aku sudah semestinya proton..wakakakaka

PROTON

We are Malaysia's leading automotive manufacturer. With 25 years in the automotive sector, PROTON has produced over a dozen car models to date that have sold more than 3 million units and has exported to more than 25 countries.
